SENATE BILL NO. 1203 AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE (Proposed by the House Committee for Courts of Justice on February 19, 2007) (Patron Prior to Substitute--Senator Hanger) A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding in Chapter 9 of Title 37.2 a section numbered 37.2-921, relating to conditional release of civilly committed sexually violent predators.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Chapter 9 of Title 37.2 a section numbered 37.2-921 as follows:

§ 37.2-921. Conditional release; examination of feasibility of treatment and housing components.

The Department and the Attorney General's Office shall examine, as possible components of conditional release under this chapter, the feasibility of the use of physical castration as a treatment option and the use of residential housing facilities, operated by the Commonwealth or by private providers contracted with the Commonwealth and located on property owned by the Commonwealth, and shall report the results of the examination to the Governor and the General Assembly by December 1, 2008.
