HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 91
Commending Lucas Mineika.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 24, 2007

 

WHEREAS, Lucas Mineika, a celebrated guard and gifted athlete with the varsity basketball team at Southampton Academy in Courtland, is recognized for surpassing the 1,000-point mark during an exciting game on January 26, 2007; and

WHEREAS, battling for a shot at the championship in the Virginia Commonwealth Conference (VCC), Lucas Mineika scored 42 points in a close, hard-fought game that ended in an overtime loss for the Southampton Academy's Raiders; and

WHEREAS, in the following game, Lukas Mineika reached another remarkable milestone by grabbing his 500th rebound in just two years; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Brian Trickler describes Lucas Mineika as a disciplined, talented athlete, and a highly motivated and enthusiastic team player; and

WHEREAS, on senior night, in the last regular season game on February 16, 2007, Lucas Mineika broke the school record for most points scored in a game by running up 46 points, helping the Raiders win a battle for third place in the VCC; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Lucas Mineika hereby be commended and congratulated for surpassing the 1,000-point mark along with other major achievements in his high school basketball career; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Lucas Mineika as an expression of the House of Delegates’ appreciation of his athletic talents and best wishes for continued success in the future.
