076745306WHEREAS, Daniel W. Presgraves is recognized for his exemplary leadership as sheriff of Page County and the outstanding staff of the Page County Sheriff’s Office is honored for their dedication to excellence as demonstrated by the organization's recent reaccreditation by the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC); and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Sheriffs' Association, the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police, and the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services make up the VLEPSC, and its executive board, all active sheriffs and chiefs of police, establishes professional standards and administers the accreditation process by which Virginia law-enforcement agencies can be systematically measured, evaluated, and updated; and
WHEREAS, an excellent law-enforcement officer and experienced administrator, Daniel Presgraves assumed the duties of sheriff of Page County on January 1, 2000; and
WHEREAS, Sheriff Presgraves and the Page County Sheriff’s Office employees have worked tirelessly to improve the quality of law-enforcement services provided to the citizens of Page County; and
WHEREAS, in January 2003, the Page County Sheriff’s Office became only the 16th accredited sheriff’s office in Virginia due to the superb management of Sheriff Presgraves and the diligence and hard work of the employees; and
WHEREAS, in the assessment team's reaccreditation report on January 25, 2007, VLEPSC praised the sheriff and the "very loyal" staff of the Page County Sheriff’s Office for its impressive efforts to remain “conservative” in spending and have "little impact on the local tax revenue" of Page County; and
WHEREAS, the VLEPSC report also noted that the Page County Sheriff’s Office motto of Making a Difference Together “truly summed up the observations of the assessment team”; and
WHEREAS, Daniel Presgraves and the staff of the Page County Sheriff’s Office continuously strive to provide the highest standard of law-enforcement services possible; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate Sheriff Daniel W. Presgraves and the Page County Sheriff’s Office for their exceptional performance; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Sheriff Daniel W. Presgraves and the staff of the Page County Sheriff’s Office as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for their commitment to excellence in providing law-enforcement services to the citizens of Page County.
