Commending the Hidden Valley High School women’s varsity soccer team.

WHEREAS, the Hidden Valley High School women’s varsity soccer team won the Virginia High School League Group AA state championship on June 10, 2006, by defeating Charlottesville High School; and

WHEREAS, the Hidden Valley Titans, of Roanoke County, had a tough road to the state final, losing in the regional final and having to play on the road to start the state playoffs; and

WHEREAS, after defeating Blacksburg High School 1-0 in the state semifinals, the Titans sealed their first state soccer title with a 3-2 win in the championship game; and

WHEREAS, despite losing several seniors from the 2005 team, the Titans were determined to go all the way in 2006, motivated by losses in the state semifinals the two previous years; and

WHEREAS, the outstanding performance of the 2006 Hidden Valley High School women’s varsity soccer team is a tribute to the talent, dedication, and perseverance of the players; the leadership of Coach Roy Lax; and the support of the students, faculty, and parents of Hidden Valley High School; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate the Hidden Valley High School women’s varsity soccer team on its 2006 Group AA state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Coach Roy Lax as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the Hidden Valley Titans' triumphant 2006 season.
