2007 SESSION
079220308WHEREAS, Aaron Garber, founder and music director of the Salem Choral Society, has accepted an invitation to compose an original choral work and conduct it at Carnegie Hall in New York City on November 18, 2007; and
WHEREAS, members of the Salem Choral Society and choral groups throughout Virginia will participate in the Carnegie Hall performance, which will feature a major composition for chorus, orchestra, and soloists; and
WHEREAS, Aaron Garber holds a bachelor's degree in music, with emphasis on voice and piano, from Bridgewater College and a Master of Music degree in choral conducting from the University of Tennessee; and
WHEREAS, Aaron Garber won the 2001 Raymond W. Brock Student Composition Contest, a national contest, and his winning composition premiered at the American Choral Directors Association convention that same year; and
WHEREAS, Aaron Garber's recent world premieres as a conductor have included his works Job, Mass for Peace, and Mary, the Mother of Jesus; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his responsibilities with the Salem Choral Society, Aaron Garber is the director of music at College Lutheran Church in Salem; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Aaron Garber for his outstanding accomplishments in choral music; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Aaron Garber as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his extraordinary talents and best wishes for his Carnegie Hall debut.
