Celebrating the life of Allen Richard Ellis III.

WHEREAS, Allen Richard Ellis III is remembered as a compassionate and devoted young man whose untimely death on May 25, 2006, touched the lives of the residents of Midlothian; and

WHEREAS, Allen "Chip" Ellis was born on June 15, 1987, in Naples, Florida, to his beloved mother and father, Sherri Diehl and Rick Ellis; and

WHEREAS, Chip Ellis was eagerly anticipating his graduation from Midlothian High School on June 14, 2006, and looking forward to working at Robious Sports and Fitness Center during the summer and attending John Tyler Community College in the fall; and

WHEREAS, appreciative of his background and close family, Chip Ellis was a loyal and devoted brother to Ashley, Steve, and Reid, and a terrific friend and stepbrother to Kyle and Zak; and

WHEREAS, believing he could make a difference in the lives of his fellow citizens, Chip Ellis liked to work with and mentor children and volunteered over 550 hours at the Midlothian Family YMCA; and

WHEREAS, in January 2006, Chip Ellis was honored by the YMCA of Richmond as a Community Role Model; and

WHEREAS, Chip Ellis helped establish the Midlothian Branch Leaders Club, a teen volunteer organization that promotes leadership and community service; he was an active member of the Naples Branch of the group for five years before moving to Midlothian; and

WHEREAS, Chip Ellis was a funny, caring, and vibrant young man and a dedicated son; he is described by those who knew him well as possessing a natural gift for making people happy and one of the best friends one could ever have; and

WHEREAS, Chip Ellis will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his loving parents, siblings, and grandparents; a multitude of other cherished family members and friends; and the citizens of Midlothian and the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the untimely loss of an outstanding young Virginian, Allen Richard Ellis III; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Allen Richard Ellis III as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
