2007 SESSION
WHEREAS, Walter J. Zakrzewski of Norfolk, a respected security officer for Virginia Wesleyan College, died tragically in the line of duty on October 11, 2006; and
WHEREAS, a native of Chicago, Illinois, Walter "Wally" Zakrzewski had been a Norfolk resident for five years; and
WHEREAS, Walter Zakrzewski valiantly served his country as a member of the United States Navy; and
WHEREAS, for most of his adult life, Walter Zakrzewski was deeply involved in his community, umpiring Little League baseball, coaching football, and serving as a dedicated volunteer at Saint Vincent DePaul Food Pantry in Chicago and as a security guard at Virginia Wesleyan College, he quickly became a beloved member of the community and was known affectionately as “Officer Wally”; and
WHEREAS, Walter Zakrzewski will be fondly remembered for his amiable personality, his positive attitude, and his commitment to his family and will be greatly missed by his loving wife Mary Ann, two children Eric and Rebecca, two granddaughters Isabella and Gabriella, and numerous other family members; his friends and colleagues at Virginia Wesleyan College; and the citizens of Hampton Roads; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with sadness the passing of a dedicated officer and a beloved member of the community, Walter J. Zakrzewski; and, be it
RESOLVED FUTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Walter J. Zakrzewski as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
