2007 SESSION
076457419WHEREAS, the Osbourn High School football team won the Virginia High School League Group AAA, Division 6 state championship on December 9, 2006, by defeating Chantilly High School, 42-20; and
WHEREAS, the win capped a perfect season (14-0) for the Osbourn Eagles and brought them their first state football title; and
WHEREAS, the Eagles jumped out to a 28-0 lead in the first half, holding the Chantilly offense to only 39 yards with under three minutes left, but then Chantilly made two quick scores and the first half ended 28-14; and
WHEREAS, adding two more touchdowns in the second half and limiting Chantilly to just one more score, the Eagles sealed the win at 42-20; and
WHEREAS, the Eagles' defense held Chantilly to under 100 yards rushing for the game and tallied six sacks and two interceptions; and
WHEREAS, senior quarterback Brandon Hogan had a stellar game, running and throwing for 391 total yards, and was responsible for all six Eagle touchdowns with three touchdown passes and three touchdown runs; and
WHEREAS, senior Marcus Hyde was another standout, disrupting plays on defense with three sacks and, as lead blocker on offense, blazing paths for quarterback Brandon Hogan; and
WHEREAS, the spectacular performance of the 2006 Osbourn High School football team is a tribute to the talent, dedication, and perseverance of the players; the leadership of Head Coach Steve Schultze and his staff; and the support of the students, faculty, and parents of Osbourn High School and the Manassas community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate the Osbourn High School football team on its 2006 state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Coach Steve Schultze as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the Osbourn Eagles' triumphant season.
