079134492WHEREAS, Kerrie Wilson, the outstanding CEO of Reston Interfaith, Inc., has been selected as a winner of the 2006 Meyer Foundation Exponent Award; and
WHEREAS, the Meyer Foundation provides funding and support to community-based nonprofit organizations in the Washington, D.C., area and its first annual Exponent Award was established in 2006 to honor visionary nonprofit leadership; and
WHEREAS, Kerrie Wilson and four other distinguished award winners were chosen from over 40 nonprofit executives in the Washington, D.C., area to receive the prestigious award and were honored on November 13, 2006, by the Meyer Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Kerrie Wilson and the activities of Reston Interfaith, Inc., also will be featured on WAMU 88.5 radio and in other news events and activities throughout the year; and
WHEREAS, Kerrie Wilson received the award in recognition of her outstanding leadership of Reston Interfaith, Inc., and her dedication to addressing the needs of the community through the organization’s vital volunteer and advocacy services; and
WHEREAS, Reston Interfaith, Inc., will receive a generous grant of $100,000 over a two-year period, which will be used to support staff leadership and training and to help the organization grow and further its mission in the Reston community; and
WHEREAS, Kerrie Wilson and Interfaith Reston, Inc., are a shining example of the valuable services that nonprofits provide citizens in need across the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate Kerrie Wilson as a winner of the first annual Meyer Foundation Exponent Award; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Kerrie Wilson as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for her commitment to Interfaith Reston, Inc., and Virginia's citizens in need.
