2007 SESSION
WHEREAS, Pansy Leona Bandy Steele is recognized as a respected Tazewell County citizen and a generous community volunteer on the occasion of her 90th birthday in 2006; and
WHEREAS, a native of Canebrake, West Virginia, Pansy Steele was born on August 23, 1916, and moved to Tazewell County and settled in the Bandy area with her family when she was 13 years old; and
WHEREAS, Pansy married her beloved, William Steele, and the couple had five boys and four girls, the foundation of the large, loving Steele family, which includes 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, a major supporter of many community projects and civic activities over the years, Pansy Steele has devoted her life to her family, her community, and her beloved church, Bandy Chapel, which she helped organize and where she still plays the piano at Sunday morning services; and
WHEREAS, Pansy Steele is the oldest member of Bandy Chapel and remains active in the church's many missions in Tazewell County; and
WHEREAS, considered an honored pillar of the community, Pansy Steele is an inspiration to all who know her and she continues to give her time and numerous talents to increase the quality of life of her fellow residents in Tazewell County; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Pansy Leona Bandy Steele for her many accomplishments and her generosity on behalf of her community; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Pansy Leona Bandy Steele as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration of her devotion to Tazewell County and best wishes on her 90th birthday.
