Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  That § 46.2-344 of the Code of Virginia are amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 46.2-344. Temporary driver's permit.

The Department, upon determining, after an examination, that an applicant is mentally, physically, and otherwise qualified to receive a license, may issue to him a temporary driver's permit entitling him, while having the permit in his immediate possession, to drive a motor vehicle on the highways for a period of ninety days, pending the issuance to such person of a driver's license.

The provisions of this section limiting the validity of a temporary driver's permit to ninety days shall not apply to temporary driver's licenses issued to minors as provided in subsection D of § 46.2-334.
