2007 SESSION
(SB1074)GOVERNOR'S VETO
Pursuant to Article V, Section 6, of the Constitution of Virginia, I veto Senate Bill 1074, which would bar homebuilders in certain localities from clustering of single-family dwellings so as to preserve open space.
In 2006, we created important legislation that allows for clustering of single-family dwellings. That was a smart land-use policy. SB 1074 takes steps backwards by exempting areas from this option and weakens the good policy we put in place in 2006.
Accordingly, I am vetoing this bill.
