2006 SPECIAL SESSION I
WHEREAS, Lela Richmond has been a dedicated member of the staff of Second Baptist Church at River and Gaskins Roads in Henrico County since 1968, serving as a capable ministerial staff assistant and faithful liaison between the staff and congregation; and
WHEREAS, throughout her 38 years of exemplary service, Lela Richmond has exhibited a selfless devotion to the church, its congregation, and the community; and
WHEREAS, Lela Richmond has been an indispensable and loyal assistant to the Reverend Raymond L. Spence, Jr., Senior Minister of Second Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, the members and friends of Second Baptist Church have relied on Lela Richmond's many gifts and talents, on her uncommon dedication, and on her compassion and loving kindness; and
WHEREAS, Lela Richmond has announced her retirement from the position of executive secretary of Second Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, the members and friends of Second Baptist Church owe an unpayable debt of gratitude to Lela Richmond and extend to her their best wishes for continued good health and joy in the future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Lela Richmond on her 38 years of loyal service to Second Baptist Church, its congregation, and the community; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Lela Richmond as an expression of the General Assembly’s best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement.
