2006 SPECIAL SESSION I
WHEREAS, Lisa A. Parrish was elected national president of the United States Junior Chamber (Jaycees) at its annual meeting in Boston, Massachusetts, in September 2005; and
WHEREAS, founded in 1920, the Jaycees is a nonprofit organization that provides young people between the ages of 18 and 40 with exciting opportunities for personal growth, leadership development, community involvement, and networking on the local, state, national, and international levels; and
WHEREAS, a respected and admired resident of Goochland, Lisa Parrish holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Virginia Tech and is a certified public accountant; and
WHEREAS, a senior manager at Goodman & Company in Richmond, Lisa Parrish specializes in audit and tax services for private companies and not-for-profit organizations and performs tax services for individuals; and
WHEREAS, Lisa Parrish joined the Goochland chapter of the Jaycees in 1988, quickly became active in local, state, national, and international activities, and served as president of the Goochland chapter from 1990-1991; and
WHEREAS, an experienced and enthusiastic leader, Lisa Parrish has served as the Jaycees' Virginia regional director, treasurer, and president; and
WHEREAS, Lisa Parrish has provided national leadership as the chairman of the International Committee and as the treasurer and vice president assigned to the states of Florida, Massachusetts, Montana, South Carolina, and her home state of Virginia and cross-assigned to Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, on the international level, Lisa Parrish has served the Junior Chamber International (JCI) as vice president assigned to Europe, as well as treasurer, and was recognized as Outstanding Executive Committee Member for 2004 for her outstanding service in that capacity; and
WHEREAS, Lisa Parrish has also served as treasurer for the Jaycees International Foundation and is an invaluable member of the JCI audit committee; and
WHEREAS, committed to contributing to her community as a volunteer, Lisa Parrish serves as the treasurer of her church, as well as the Goochland Chamber of Commerce and the Tuckahoe Jaycees Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Lisa Parrish serves as national president of the Jaycees with great skill and dignity and is a superb ambassador for the organization across the Commonwealth and the nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate Lisa A. Parrish as the 2006 national president of the United States Junior Chamber; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Lisa A. Parrish as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation for her leadership and numerous achievements.
