Commending the Town of Vienna.
----------
Patron-- Devolites Davis
----------

WHEREAS, the Town of Vienna was recently named one of the best places to live in America by a widely read and respected national publication; and

WHEREAS, Money magazine and CNNMoney spent months searching for “Great American Towns,” localities where people "would want to raise children and celebrate life's milestones"; and

WHEREAS, Money and CNNMoney whittled a list of more than 1,300 towns down to 10, and Vienna appeared as number four on the final top 10 list; and

WHEREAS, founded in Fairfax County in 1754, the Town of Vienna is rich in history, retains a small-town atmosphere, and ranks high in education levels, per capita income, and low crime rates; and

WHEREAS, according to Money, Vienna's personal and property crime rates were about half the national average; the town center retains numerous small, locally owned stores; median family income exceeds $100,000 annually; and high-paying jobs, locally and in nearby Washington, D.C., are plentiful; and

WHEREAS, Vienna also offers its residents relatively low property taxes, a highly ranked public school system, and numerous cultural and entertainment opportunities; and

WHEREAS, Vienna's designation as one of the top 10 towns in America is a tribute to the town's political and business leadership and its friendly and public-spirited citizens; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Town of Vienna on being named a “Great American Town”; and, be it
