2006 SPECIAL SESSION I
060377268WHEREAS, James Patrick "Buddy" Hall of Buena Vista, respected citizen and active community leader, died on September 7, 2006; and
WHEREAS, Buddy Hall was born February 1, 1936, in Bath County, a son of the late Guy Francis and Stella Stephenson Hall; and
WHEREAS, as a member of the United States National Guard, Buddy Hall served his country and his state; and
WHEREAS, Buddy Hall and his wife, Doris "Sissy" Huffman Hall, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Buddy and Sissy Hall created a loving family for their daughters, Pamela and Clarissa Jo, their sons-in-law Larry Staats and Randy Tomlin, their granddaughter Kimberly and husband Brent, and their great-grandson, Alden Parrish Dorey; and
WHEREAS, Buddy Hall was a dedicated employee, working for more than 45 years for Reeves Brothers, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, for many years, Buddy Hall served as a bus driver for the Buena Vista City Schools and was always ready to help his fellow residents as an active community volunteer for numerous local activities and civic organizations, including serving as a former Master of the Buena Vista Masonic Lodge; and
WHEREAS, Buddy Hall was elected by his fellow citizens to the Buena Vista City Council, serving two consecutive terms for a total of eight years; he was chosen by his fellow council members to serve for two years as the city's vice mayor; and
WHEREAS, with an extraordinary record of achievement, Buddy Hall served as a dedicated life member of the all-volunteer Buena Vista Rescue Squad for 43 years, holding every office within the squad's organization, including service as Chaplain for 2006; and
WHEREAS, Buddy Hall received many prestigious awards for his outstanding service as a member of the Buena Vista Rescue Squad and was highly honored by his fellow squad members and the community as the recipient of the "Top Ten Most Calls Answered” for 20 consecutive years; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his loving family, Buddy is survived by his friends in the Calvary Brethren Church, Buena Vista; and
WHEREAS, Buddy Hall was a loyal member of the Calvary Brethren Church, supported the church's many missions, and was recognized for his great service as an usher and bus driver for the congregation; and
WHEREAS, Buddy Hall will be fondly remembered for his honesty and sense of fairness and his dedication to his church and community and will be greatly missed by his loving wife and family, his numerous friends and admirers, and the citizens of Buena Vista; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the passing of an outstanding Virginian, James Patrick Hall; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of James Patrick Hall as an expression of the high esteem in which his memory is held by the members of the General Assembly.
