Celebrating the life of Edward L. Miller.

WHEREAS, Edward L. Miller of Haymarket, an admired and respected citizen, philanthropist, and developer, died on August 20, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Edward Miller was born on January 26, 1947, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, to Edward and Mildred Miller; and

WHEREAS, a brave patriot during the Vietnam War, Edward Miller served his country as an exemplary member of the First Air Cavalry Division; and

WHEREAS, after his military service, Edward Miller entered the real estate industry and established an exceptional career as a realtor and homebuilder in Fauquier County; and

WHEREAS, an astute businessman and visionary leader, Edward Miller was an active member of the Fauquier County chapter of the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association; and

WHEREAS, throughout his long and distinguished career, Edward Miller was honored with numerous awards for his outstanding contributions to the commercial and residential building industry; and

WHEREAS, Edward Miller was especially well-known for his valuable contributions to the development of Brookside, one of the nation's largest master-planned developments; and

WHEREAS, Edward Miller was a generous supporter of countless public and private organizations in Fauquier, including the county hospital, the schools, and athletic programs; and

WHEREAS, Edward Miller was an enthusiastic participant in local and national political affairs, the Republican Party, and the Republican Presidential Task Force; and

WHEREAS, Edward Miller loved to travel the world, but one of his greatest pleasures was time spent at his home, overseeing farm operations and raising Angus cattle; and

WHEREAS, Edward Miller will be fondly remembered for his professionalism, his immense generosity, and his zest for life and will be greatly missed by his devoted wife, Patricia, loving daughters, grandson, and other family members; his countless friends and admirers; and the citizens of Fauquier County; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of a fine community benefactor and an outstanding Virginian, Edward L. Miller; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Edward L. Miller as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
