Commending Jennifer J. Brown.

WHEREAS, Jennifer J. Brown, treasurer of the City of Charlottesville, was honored as the Treasurer of the Year by the Treasurers’ Association of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, the Treasurers’ Association of Virginia provides individual treasurers across the Commonwealth with the resources and training necessary to provide the very best service possible to the citizens of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Jennifer Brown is a longtime member of the Treasurers' Association of Virginia and has generously given her time and immense talents as a member of the organization's Executive Board, the Career Development Committee, and the Certification Committee; and

WHEREAS, a dedicated and hard-working public servant, Jennifer Brown has been treasurer since 1994, was elected to a fourth term on November 8, 2005, and previously worked for the City of Charlottesville in the Commissioner of Revenue's office and the Office of Purchasing; and

WHEREAS, as city treasurer, Jennifer Brown manages all cash and investments for the City of Charlottesville, is the custodian of the assets for the retirement funds for city employees, and is responsible for maintaining all records and accounts for the investment of retirement funds; and

WHEREAS, Jennifer Brown is well-known and admired for her innovative policies to better serve area residents and her outstanding ability to effectively and efficiently manage the city’s investments and numerous resources; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Jennifer J. Brown for her well-deserved recognition as Treasurer of the Year by the Treasurers’ Association of Virginia; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jennifer J. Brown as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation for her many outstanding achievements and gratitude for her commitment to the residents of the City of Charlottesville.
