Celebrating the life of Edna Moore Drosick.

WHEREAS, Edna Moore Drosick of Pocahontas, an admired citizen and enthusiastic community leader, died on April 17, 2006; and

WHEREAS, the daughter of the late Nannie Lee Boyd and William Moore, Sr., Edna Moore was born on May 13, 1922, graduated from Pocahontas High School in the class of 1939, and married her devoted husband, the late Louie J. Drosick; and

WHEREAS, for over 30 years, Edna Drosick served her community with distinction and commitment, especially in her valuable contributions to the development of tourism in Tazewell County and her beloved Town of Pocahontas; and

WHEREAS, Edna Drosick was a member of the Tazewell County Democratic Committee for 40 years and served on the Pocahontas Town Council; and

WHEREAS, Edna Drosick was known as the town historian and was the founder of Historic Pocahontas, serving the organization as president, secretary, and board member; and

WHEREAS, a faithful and active member of the First United Methodist Church, Edna Drosick taught the Friendship Sunday School Class and served on the church’s administrative board for many years; and

WHEREAS, Edna Drosick will be fondly remembered for her kind and loving spirit and will be missed by her three daughters and their families, her six grandchildren, her numerous friends, and the citizens of Tazewell County; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of an outstanding community supporter and fine Virginian, Edna Moore Drosick; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Edna Moore Drosick as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
