2006 SPECIAL SESSION I
068591508WHEREAS, Dr. Thomas Lynn Bibb of Riner, an admired citizen and respected veterinarian for many years, died on March 17, 2006; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Bibb was born on August 18, 1936, the son of the late James B. and Mabel Bibb; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Bibb received a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Virginia Tech in 1958, a doctorate in veterinary medicine in 1962, and a master’s degree in equine reproduction from Ohio State University in 1966; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Bibb was an active member of the Virginia Veterinary Association, the American Veterinary Association, the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, the Virginia Academy of Food Animal Practitioners, which he served as president, the Academy of Veterinary Consultants, the Society of Theriogenology, the Virginia Beef Cattle Association, and the Virginia Horse Council; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Bibb served as an advisor and veterinary consultant for the Dublin Feeder Calf Association, as the resident veterinarian for the Pulaski County Stock Market at Dublin, as a member of the Academy of Small Ruminant Animals, and as advisor and mentor to numerous youth organizations, including the Future Farmers of America and the Sheep Club; and
WHEREAS, ardently committed to his neighbors and the community, Dr. Bibb was a member of the board of the First National Bank of Riner, a member of the Lions Club, and a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church of Radford, where he served as a deacon and elder; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Bibb will be missed by his loving family, his numerous friends and admirers, and the congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Radford; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of a fine veterinarian and outstanding Virginian, Dr. Thomas Lynn Bibb; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Dr. Thomas Lynn Bibb as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
