SUMMARY AS PASSED SENATE: (all summaries)
Enhanced Public Safety Telephone Services Act. Expands the powers and duties of the Wireless E-911 Services Board to include developing a statewide enhanced 9-1-1 plan for voice-over-Internet service and future communications technologies accessing E-911 for emergency purposes. The formula for distribution of money in the Wireless E-911 fund is revised to provide that 60% will be provided to public safety answering points (PSAPs), 30% will be provided for payment of Wireless E-911 CMRS costs, and the remaining 10% will be provided for needs-based grants to be defined by the Board for PSAPs. The bill also increases the size of the Board from 14 to 15 members.
