SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Community College Transfer Grant program. Establishes the Community College Transfer Grant program, to be administered by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, for the purpose of providing need-based higher education grants to domiciles of Virginia who have successfully completed an acceptable associate degree program at a Virginia community college and have been admitted to an accredited nonprofit public or private institution of higher education in the Commonwealth. To be eligible to receive a grant under this program, students must be Virginia domiciles and must have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher while enrolled in an associate degree program at a Virginia community college. Students may receive grants for up to two academic years. This bill has been incorporated into H.B. 1136.
