HB 563 Court records; removes sunset provision on prohibiting information from court-controlled website.
Introduced by: Samuel A. Nixon, Jr. | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY AS ENACTED WITH GOVERNOR'S RECOMMENDATION: (all summaries)
Posting of court records on a website; personal information; removes sunset. Removes the sunset provision and makes permanent the restriction on court clerks from posting certain personal information on a court-controlled website. Court clerks may continue to post and provide secure remote access to land records containing personal infomation. The Compensation Board policies shall require court clerks to certify that proposed technology improvements of their land records will provide remote access to land records on or before July 1, 2007. If a court clerk provides remote access to land records on or before July 1, 2007, the clerk may then apply to the Compensation Board for an allocation from the Technology Trust Fund. The bill also requests the Virginia Information Technologies Agency to develop methods for the redaction of social security numbers from electronic land record documents and to submit a project budget to the Compensation Board for approval.
