SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:
Authority for arrest without warrant for motor vehicle code violations. Allows law-enforcement officers to arrest without a warrant the driver of any motor vehicle if the arresting officer is in uniform, displays his badge of authority, and has observed a violation of § 46.2-821(failure to yield right of way) or 46.2-833 (failure to obey traffic light) or has received a radio message from the officer who observed the violation.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Authority for arrest without warrant for motor vehicle code violations. Allows law-enforcement officers to arrest without a warrant the driver of any motor vehicle if the arresting officer is in uniform, displays his badge of authority, and has observed a violation of the motor vehicle code, or has received a radio message from the officer who observed the violation of the motor vehicle code.
