SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Tolls on U.S. Route 17 in Chesapeake.  Requires VDOT to impose and collect tolls for use of U.S. Route 17 in Chesapeake and undertake such reconfiguration of U.S. Route 17 in the City of Chesapeake as may be necessary or desirable to permit the imposition and collection of such tolls. The amount of the tolls is to be $1 per axle for trucks, tractor trucks, and combination vehicles, $0.50 for commuters, and $2 for other users of the facility. Funds derived from the toll, after paying the cost of the reconfiguration of the highway and the Department's costs of collection, are to be used to maintain the highway and provide a funding stream for replacement of the Steel Bridge and widening of Dominion Boulevard in the City of Chesapeake.
