SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Tattooing or body piercing; penalty. Increases the penalty for tattooing or body piercing minors without parental consent or without medical supervision and for tattooing or body piercing without complying with health and safety requirements and disclosure provisions from a Class 2 misdemeanor to a Class 1 misdemeanor. The criminal provisions will apply only to someone who performs such services for hire or consideration. Currently the Class 1 misdemeanor applies only to a second violation of the statute.
SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:
Tattooing or body piercing of minors; penalty. Prohibits all tattooing of persons under 16 and prohibits tattooing or piercing on a minor without parental presence or supervision of medical personnel. The penalty for a violation of this section is made uniform for any offense, as a Class 1 misdemeanor. Previously a first offense was a Class 2 misdemeanor.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Tattooing or body piercing of minors; penalty. Prohibits all tattooing of minors and increases the penalties for violation of this provision and the provision against piercing the body of a minor without parental presence or supervision of medical personnel from a Class 2 misdemeanor to a Class 1 misdemeanor. Subsequent violations are punished under this bill as Class 6 felonies as opposed to Class 1 misdemeanors under current law.
