SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 32
Commending Peter M. Pufki.

WHEREAS, the Children's Home Society of Virginia is a statewide, private, nonprofit, nonsectarian, licensed adoption agency that places eligible children for adoption in permanent homes and provides adoption counseling to birth and adoptive families; and

WHEREAS, Peter M. Pufki, President and Chief Executive Officer, who joined the Children's Home Society of Virginia on January 13, 1973, as a District Supervisor, was promoted to Assistant Director in 1979, and was elevated to Executive Director in 1983; and

WHEREAS, Peter M. Pufki has served the Children's Home Society of Virginia for 34 years, giving of his time and talents on behalf of all children, and ensuring that the agency has never avoided the most challenging cases, including finding homes for children with special needs and those who are disabled, drug addicted, or members of sibling groups; and

WHEREAS, under his leadership, the Children's Home Society of Virginia has served more than 6,722 clients, has placed 907 children in permanent homes, has provided foster care for 829 children and more than 52,857 days of foster care service, and has offered more than 136,815 hours of adoptive parent counseling; and

WHEREAS, Peter M. Pufki, the heart and soul of the agency, has worked tirelessly and diligently to ensure the safety and well-being of children in crisis or at risk across the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, Peter M. Pufki has been an inspiration to his colleagues, the agency and its staff, and volunteers; upon his retirement, he will leave an immense void that cannot be easily filled; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Peter M. Pufki hereby be commended for 34 years of service to the Children's Home Society of Virginia; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Peter M. Pufki as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's appreciation for his work on behalf of the children of the Commonwealth and best wishes on his retirement.
