066060784WHEREAS, Brian Hendricks, a senior at Winston Churchill High School in Potomac, is the innovative recipient of the 2005 National Student Entrepreneur award; and
WHEREAS, Brian Hendricks is honored for the development of his computer business, StartUpPC; and
WHEREAS, the National Student Entrepreneur award is sponsored by Junior Achievement Worldwide, the NASDAQ Educational Foundation, and the U.S. Small Business Association and recognizes outstanding young people who develop and operate the most innovative businesses; and
WHEREAS, StartUpPC offers on-site computer troubleshooting, as well as the sale of custom computers at reasonable costs; and
WHEREAS, Brian Hendricks, aged 17, employs teenagers aged 16-18 who have an avid interest in computer technology like himself and are willing to learn and show initiative; and
WHEREAS, Brian Hendricks received a $5,000 scholarship and a $1,000 donation on his behalf to Winston Churchill High School; and
WHEREAS, Brian Hendricks is a creative and industrious young business person and quite worthy of accolades and national recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate Brian Hendricks for receiving the 2005 National Student Entrepreneur award; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Brian Hendricks as an expression of the General Assembly’s best wishes in all of his future endeavors.
