SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 301
Commending the Southwestern Youth Association.

WHEREAS, the Southwestern Youth Association (SYA) of Centreville is recognized for its development and realization of the Fields of Dreams; and

WHEREAS, the Fields of Dreams is a 120-acre, multisport complex that is underway for use by children ages four through eighteen; and

WHEREAS, the SYA is a nonprofit, volunteer organization with a mission to provide a safe and positive environment for children of Southwestern Fairfax County in which to play and enjoy sports; and

WHEREAS, twenty-six years in the planning, the SYA’s Fields of Dreams will be located on Bull Run Post Office Road near Highway 29 in Centreville and will include playing fields for all of the popular youth sports; and

WHEREAS, the Fields of Dreams will be constructed in phases over a five-year period with temporary fields to meet the already increased demands of the growing community; and

WHEREAS, the SYA’s Fields of Dreams project will make it possible for every young athlete in Southwestern Fairfax County who has the dream and the desire to participate in a sport to do so in an excellent facility, as well as in a safe and positive environment; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Southwestern Youth Association of Centreville for the development and realization of the Fields of Dreams; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Southwestern Youth Association as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for its commitment to youth sports and the young people of Southwestern Fairfax County.
