Celebrating the life of Robert Fenton Atkins, Jr.

WHEREAS, Robert Fenton Atkins, Jr., was born on June 18, 1941, in Virgilina and died on December 24, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Robert Atkins graduated from Halifax High School in 1959, attended the Virginia Military Institute, and served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964; and

WHEREAS, Robert Atkins was a longtime employee of C & P Telephone (later AT&T), working there from 1968 to 1991; and

WHEREAS, a leader in community organizations, Robert Atkins served as master of the Washington & Henry Lodge, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons; was president of the Hanover Rotary Club; and was a member of American Legion Post #175; and

WHEREAS, Robert Atkins was a devoted husband to Nancy, his wife of 41 years, and a devoted father to his two sons; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a fine Virginian, Robert Fenton Atkins, Jr.; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Robert Fenton Atkins, Jr., as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
