Commending Joyce Lindsey.

WHEREAS, Joyce Lindsey, the cosmetology instructor at Madison County High School, was the 2005 recipient of the National Outstanding New Teacher of the Year award presented by the Association for Career and Technical Education, Trade and Industrial Education Division; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Lindsey qualified for the award by being named Virginia's 2005 New Teacher of the Year by the Virginia Association of Trade and Industrial Education; and

WHEREAS, the award recognizes teachers who have taught at least three years but no more than five years and have made strong contributions in improving, promoting, and developing industrial education--criteria that Joyce Lindsey meets perfectly; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Lindsey has led Madison County High School's cosmetology program since 2000, and under her direction, Madison County students are known for winning many local, district, and state competition awards and trophies; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Lindsey integrates fun into the highly successful program and encourages her students to reach their highest potential using creativity and skill combined with a strong work ethic; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Lindsey has prepared her students well, and every student who has completed her program has passed the cosmetology exam for licensure in Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Lindsey is a dedicated teacher and an exemplary role model for educators across Virginia and the nation; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate Joyce Lindsey on her well-deserved national recognition as the 2005 recipient of the National Outstanding New Teacher of the Year award; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Joyce Lindsey as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her many accomplishments and exceptional commitment to the education of the students at Madison County High School.
