SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 215
Commending the Clarke County High School girls' soccer team.

WHEREAS, the 2005 Clarke County High School girls' soccer team capped a perfect season by winning the Virginia High School League Group A state soccer championship; and

WHEREAS, in compiling a record of 20-0, the Clarke County Eagles outscored their opponents by a combined total of 130-5; and

WHEREAS, on their way to the state title, the Eagles captured the Bull Run District and Region B tournament championships; and

WHEREAS, in the state "Final Four" tournament, held at Radford University, the Clarke County Eagles easily defeated Glenvar High School, 5-0, in the semifinal game; then they won the championship game, 4-2, over Radford High School; and

WHEREAS, the Eagles were led by Jill Hobbs, state Player of the Year, and Head Coach Laurie Harrell, the Coach of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Clarke County players Beth Dickey, Erice Douglas, Kaylin Gaal, Leslie Hardesty, Jill Hobbs, Keely McCall, Danielle Moyer, and Courtney Peake were named to the All-State first team, and Katheryne Lawson, Jessica Pellegrino, and Taylor Warner made the All-State second team; and

WHEREAS, the triumphant performance of the 2005 Eagles soccer team is a tribute to the talent, dedication, and perseverance of the players; the leadership of Head Coach Laurie Harrell and her staff; and the support of the students and faculty of Clarke County High School; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate the Eagles from Clarke County High School on their dominant state championship season; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach Laurie Harrell as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the outstanding performance of the 2005 Clarke County High School girls' soccer team.
