2006 SESSION
WHEREAS, Powhatan native and songwriter, Audrey Hatcher, was honored with the inclusion of her song "All My Praise" on the WOW 2006: 30 of the Year's Top Artists and Hits; and
WHEREAS, in its tenth year and having sold over 15 million units, WOW is one of Christian music's best-selling CD series, which features a mix of top music artists in the Christian music genre; and
WHEREAS, "All My Praise" was recorded by Selah, a Dove Award winning group; rose to the top of the Christian Inspirational Radio charts; and held the number one spot for five weeks; and
WHEREAS, the song remained in the Top 10 on Christian adult contemporary charts for several weeks and was on Selah’s album, Hiding Place, which won the 2005 Dove Award for Inspirational Album of the Year; and
WHEREAS, the original recording of "All My Praise" is available on Audrey Hatcher's album, Unreleased, and she recently recorded a third album, Audrey Hatcher: Live at Wheaton College; and
WHEREAS, Audrey Hatcher’s family roots date back many generations in Powhatan County; she was born and raised on a dairy farm, attended Powhatan High School, graduated from Belmont College in Nashville, and now resides in Tennessee; and
WHEREAS, Audrey Hatcher began singing at the age of two in churches, local celebrations, and school functions; she frequently returns to Powhatan for performances, including two Habitat for Humanity-Powhatan benefit concerts and the Powhatan Spring Antique Power Show; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Audrey Hatcher on her well-deserved recognition; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Audrey Hatcher as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation of her extraordinary talent and best wishes in all of her future endeavors.
