SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 155 Offered January 18, 2006 Commending the Cave Spring High School girls' volleyball team. ---------- Patrons-- Bell and Edwards; Delegates: Fralin, Griffith and Ware, O. ----------

WHEREAS, the Cave Spring High School girls' volleyball team won the 2005 Virginia High School League Group AA state volleyball championship; and

WHEREAS, Cave Spring's outstanding win against Sherando High School, on its home court and in front of a jubilant and packed gymnasium, was a triumphant ending for the Knights, especially the talented departing seniors, who have captured the title three times in their four seasons of play; and

WHEREAS, the Knights worked extremely hard all season and were fiercely determined to win the state championship after last year's bitter disappointment of losing in the final game to Loudoun Valley High School; and

WHEREAS, the Knights, a close-knit, tenaciously competitive and disciplined group, look forward to the future; one senior will play college volleyball at Seton Hall, and others hope to play in college or pursue other interests and adventures; the junior and sophomore players are extremely excited about their chances in the 2006 season; and

WHEREAS, the extraordinary success of the 2005 Knights, as well as in their last three seasons, is a tribute to the talent, dedication, teamwork, and good sportsmanship of the players; the leadership of Head Coach Tamalyn Tanis and the coaching staff; and the support of the students, faculty, and staff of Cave Spring High School; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Cave Spring High School girls' volleyball team on its state volleyball championship and its outstanding 2005 season; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach Tamalyn Tanis on behalf of all of the players of the 2005 Cave Spring High School girls' volleyball team as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations on their outstanding performance.
