Celebrating the life of Private First Class Dillon Miles Jutras.

WHEREAS, United States Army Private First Class Dillon Miles Jutras of Fairfax Station died in the line of duty during combat operations in Anbar province in Iraq on October 28, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Dillon Jutras, beloved son of Julia Jutras and Pierre D. Jutras, a major in the United States Army, postponed attending George Mason University to fulfill a lifelong dream of joining the military, enlisting when he was 19 years old on January 31, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Private First Class Jutras was assigned to the United States Army 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment based in Fort Benning, Georgia, and, after completing Airborne School and Army Ranger indoctrination training, was deployed to Iraq in August 2005; and

WHEREAS, during his military service, Private First Class Jutras received numerous honors, including the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Parachutist Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, and the Army Commendation Medal; and

WHEREAS, Private First Class Jutras was extremely athletic and liked physical conditioning from an early age; and he enjoyed soccer, running, and taking challenging 25-mile pack hikes with his father; and

WHEREAS, Private First Class Jutras was a reserved and quiet young man and will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by his parents, a sister, and two brothers, all of Fairfax Station; his grandfather, who resides in Greenville, North Carolina; and numerous other family members and friends; and

WHEREAS, Private First Class Jutras' death is a reminder of the hazards faced daily by the thousands of young Americans who serve in our armed forces overseas and whose devotion to duty places them in harm's way; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a courageous and patriotic Virginian, Private First Class Dillon Miles Jutras; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Private First Class Dillon Miles Jutras as an expression of the high regard in which his memory is held by the members of the General Assembly and the citizens of Virginia.
