Celebrating the life of Aubrey Woolworth Fountain, Sr.

WHEREAS, Aubrey Woolworth Fountain, Sr., born on November 30, 1913, entered into eternal life on August 19, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Aubrey Woolworth Fountain, Sr. attended Quioccasin Elementary School and Virginia Randolph High School in Henrico County; and

WHEREAS, Aubrey Woolworth Fountain, Sr. was employed by the Virginia Transit Company, one of the first electric streetcar companies in the nation, and made history as one of the first employees of Genuine Parts Company, later known as the National Auto Parts Association (NAPA), where he served for 57 years before his retirement; and

WHEREAS, his most important and cherished achievement was the recognition by his beloved Quioccasin Baptist Church family as a "selfless servant of God" for 50 years of Christian service, including service as a member and treasurer of the Ushers Ministry until his death, 1984 Men's Day "true disciple," oldest male member of the church in 2002, and, in 2004, recipient of the Quioccasin Baptist Church Usher Ministry award for outstanding service and dedication; and

WHEREAS, Aubrey Woolworth Fountain, Sr. found immense joy in serving the church and its people, was a proud member of the Senior Citizens Ministry and a trustee of the Zion Town Hall, and volunteered as a church van driver; and

WHEREAS, Aubrey Woolworth Fountain, Sr. was commended and exhorted by his church family for his faithful stewardship of his time, talent, and possessions; and

WHEREAS, he was an automobile enthusiast, an avid gardener, and was extraordinarily committed to his family; and

WHEREAS, the joy of his life was his deep and abiding faith, and his loved ones and church family are thankful for and celebrate his life because he "kept the faith, fought the good fight, and finished his course"; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Aubrey Woolworth Fountain, Sr.; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Aubrey Woolworth Fountain, Sr., faithful servant, as an expression of the honor in which his memory is held by the members of the General Assembly.
