Celebrating the life of Harry Macon Lumsden.

WHEREAS, Harry Macon Lumsden, respected citizen of Mineral and retired Louisa County treasurer, died on December 15, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Harry Lumsden served his country during World War II in the Pacific theatre with the United States Marine Corps; and

WHEREAS, Harry Lumsden served as the Louisa County treasurer for many years and was a member of the Virginia Treasurers’ Association; and

WHEREAS, committed to the well-being of his neighbors, Harry Lumsden was active in the community and a member of the Mineral Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, dedicated to his fellow veterans and their concerns, Harry Lumsden was a loyal member of the Masonic Day Lodge #58, the VFW Post 8947, the American Legion Post 116, and the Sons of the Confederate Veterans; and

WHEREAS, Harry Lumsden was a longtime, devoted member and elder emeritus of Louisa Christian Church; and

WHEREAS, Harry Lumsden will be sorely missed by his family, his numerous friends and admirers, and the congregation of Louisa Christian Church; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of an exemplary public servant and fine Virginian, Harry Macon Lumsden; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Harry Macon Lumsden as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
