Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 63.2-1205.1 as follows:

§63.2-1205.1.  Violent sex offenders prohibited from adopting a child.

No petition for adoption shall be granted if the person seeking to adopt has been convicted of a sexually violent offense requiring registration pursuant to § 9.1-902.
