WHEREAS, Dwayne M. Murray is cordially welcomed to the Commonwealth and recognized for his exemplary leadership of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and his support of its outstanding chapters in Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Dwayne Murray serves as the Senior Grand Vice Polemarch of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., an illustrious national fraternity founded on the campus of Indiana University in 1911; and

WHEREAS, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., celebrated its 95th anniversary on January 5, 2006, and the fraternity's Virginia chapters, which began in the 1920s, have evolved into a vital fraternal presence in the state; and

WHEREAS, Dwayne Murray is the senior partner in the law firm of Murray & Murray in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, specializing in personal injury, bankruptcy, and business reorganization; he is also an adjunct professor of law at the Southern University Law Center and a member of the Chapter 7 Panel of Trustees for the United States Middle District Bankruptcy Court, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and

WHEREAS, Dwayne Murray has served in numerous important leadership positions in Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., as well as in civic and professional organizations; but perhaps his most notable merit lies in his dedication to the well-being of the citizens of Louisiana, especially its young people; and

WHEREAS, Dwayne Murray was invaluable in the founding and development of Kappa Kamp, which provides education, motivation, and leadership training for young men, ages 12 to 16; and

WHEREAS, Dwayne Murray facilitates and encourages Louisiana citizens to better understand their laws by reaching out to the community through Kappa Alpha Psi’s Louisiana Legislative Day, Murray & Murray’s educational television programming, Understanding Louisiana Law, and many other activities; and

WHEREAS, Dwayne Murray and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., exemplify the importance of public service, giving back to the community, and the mentoring of our young people; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Dwayne M. Murray be commended for his numerous accomplishments and superb leadership of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and congratulate him and all of the Kappa Alpha Psi members on the occasion of the fraternity’s 95th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Dwayne M. Murray as an expression of its best wishes and cordial welcome to the Commonwealth of Virginia.
