HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 27 Offered March 6, 2006 Commending Shawn P. McLaughlin. ---------- Patrons-- Moran, Ebbin, Englin and Scott, J.M. ----------

WHEREAS, Shawn P. McLaughlin was honored as the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce 2005 Business Leader of the Year; and

WHEREAS, the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce established its Business Leader of the Year award program 10 years ago to identify annually someone who made a significant difference in the Alexandria community; and

WHEREAS, Shawn McLaughlin was recognized for his exemplary leadership and service to the City of Alexandria, as well as his many outstanding contributions to the Alexandria business community; and

WHEREAS, Shawn McLaughlin received his bachelor of science degree in business administration from Georgetown University and remains active as a mentor to students in Georgetown’s business school; and

WHEREAS, with over 2l years of investment experience, Shawn McLaughlin specializes in helping individuals, businesses, and associations achieve their investment goals through careful and thorough financial planning; and

WHEREAS, for many years, Shawn McLaughlin has been actively involved and held leadership positions in numerous civic and professional organizations in Northern Virginia, including the Inova Health System Board of Trustees and chairman of its foundation, the Inova Alexandria Hospital Foundation; a board member of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce and SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now) of Northern Virginia; former chairman of the Alexandria United Way Executive Committee; and a member of Wolf Trap Associates; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Shawn P. McLaughlin hereby be commended as the distinguished recipient of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce 2005 Business Leader of the Year; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Shawn P. McLaughlin as an expression of the appreciation of the House of Delegates for his many accomplishments.
