HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 1 Offered January 11, 2006 Prefiled January 9, 2006 Providing for the publication of a book on the Speakers and Clerks of the Virginia House of Delegates, 1776 - 2006. ---------- Patron-- Griffith ---------- Referred to Committee on Rules ----------

WHEREAS, "Speakers and Clerks of the Virginia House of Delegates" is a valuable reference book that was last published in 1993; and

WHEREAS, with the Commonwealth preparing to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the landing at Jamestown in 2007, now is a fitting time for it to be updated and republished; now, therefore, be it 

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates is hereby authorized to update and have published a book entitled "Speakers and Clerks of the Virginia House of Delegates 1776 - 2006," to be paid for from the contingent fund of the House of Delegates; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates is authorized to publish the necessary number of copies to distribute one copy each of the publication, free of charge, to current members of the General Assembly, the Governor and his cabinet, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, members of the Virginia congressional delegation, public library systems throughout the Commonwealth, and to others as approved by the Clerk.
