Commending Eugene M. Elliott.

WHEREAS, Eugene M. Elliott of the City of Roanoke, an admired attorney and outstanding community leader, was named Local Bar Leader of the Year 2005 by the Virginia State Bar's Conference of Local Bar Associations; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Elliott graduated from Washington and Lee School of Law and has been a superlative member of the Roanoke Bar Association since 1972; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Elliott served as past president of the Roanoke Bar Association and currently serves as president of the Roanoke Bar Foundation, a fund-raising organization; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Elliott’s hard work, impeccable values, and dedication to the City of Roanoke are evident in the numerous innovative professional and community programs he established and nurtured during his tenure as president and throughout his career; and

WHEREAS, committed to elevating the standards of the practice of law, Eugene Elliott has strengthened the Roanoke Bar Association, the area’s legal profession, and the Roanoke community through his sensitivity, legal acumen, and strong leadership; and

WHEREAS, an enthusiastic supporter and active participant in local activities, Eugene Elliott served as the Mill Mountain Zoo’s first president and contributes his considerable talents to the Virginia Museum of Transportation and other nonprofit organizations; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Elliott remains an active and respected solo general practitioner specializing in commercial real estate, domestic relations, and estate planning; and

WHEREAS, a knowledgeable attorney and distinguished leader, Eugene M. Elliott is a deserving recipient of the Local Bar Leader of the Year 2005 award; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Eugene M. Elliott for his many years of valuable service and dedication to the Roanoke Bar Association and the citizens of the City of Roanoke; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Eugene M. Elliott as an expression of the admiration and best wishes of the General Assembly.
