HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 91
Commending the 2005 Bethlehem 8-U All-star girls' softball team.

WHEREAS, the Bethlehem 8-U All-star girls' softball team won the 2005 Virginia Babe Ruth state championship by defeating Shenandoah 8-U All-star girls' softball team 23-5 in the state title game; and 

WHEREAS, the Bethlehem 8-U All-stars, runners-up in the 2005 Virginia Babe Ruth District tournament, came on strong in the state playoffs beginning with an easy victory over the Blue Ridge Nationals, 16-0, and then ousting the New Kent team, 13-0; and

WHEREAS, the Bethlehem 8-U All-stars next defeated the Blue Ridge National team, 12-4, to qualify for the state title game where they ousted Shenandoah, 8-3; and

WHEREAS, the Bethlehem 8-U All-stars—Alex Quill, Autumn Black, Brooke Layell, Cassidy Hackenberg, Emily Self, Gwyneth Sholar, Hailey Coleman, Hannah Trala, Imari Wright, Kiersten Richardson, Lauren McIntyre, Morgan Barnes, and Serena Triscari—were led by Head Coach Rich Trala, assistants Burt Sholar, Lynne Browder and Joey Coleman, and scorekeeper Kim Barnes; and

WHEREAS, the Bethlehem 8-U All-stars' first state title is evidence of the talent and dedication of the players, the leadership of Head Coach Rich Trala and his coaching staff, and the enthusiastic support of the parents; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate the 2005 Bethlehem 8-U All-star girls' softball team on its 2005 state softball championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach Rich Trala in honor of the outstanding success of the 2005 Bethlehem 8-U All-star girls' softball team.
