Commending the Brookville Timberlake Lions Club on its 50th anniversary.

WHEREAS, the Brookville Timberlake Lions Club was chartered on April 17, 1956, to serve less fortunate individuals in the community; and

WHEREAS, Lions Club International is the world's largest volunteer organization, with 1.35 million members worldwide; and

WHEREAS, throughout its history, the Brookville Timberlake Lions Club has undertaken many fund-raising projects, including an annual horse show held from 1956 to 1971, and the annual White Cane drive, the proceeds of which have been used for eye examinations, eyeglasses, corneal transplants, and other worthy endeavors relating to sight and hearing; and

WHEREAS, since 1964 the Brookville Timberlake Lions Club has sponsored the Reuben Mann Christmas Party for community children in need, supplying them with clothing and other gifts; and

WHEREAS, the Brookville Timberlake Lions Club has generously donated life-saving equipment to the Brookville Rescue Squad and purchased sight screening equipment used to screen children's eyes at local elementary schools; and

WHEREAS, the Brookville Timberlake Lions Club has sponsored many events and helped other organizations in its long history, fulfilling the organization's motto, "We Serve"; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Brookville Timberlake Lions Club on its 50th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Brookville Timberlake Lions Club as an expression of the General Assembly’s recognition of its many contributions to its community.
