HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 498
Commending Leslie Delima.

WHEREAS, Leslie Delima, a junior at Salem High School in Virginia Beach, is recognized for her outstanding performance in Virginia High School League gymnastics in 2005-2006; and

WHEREAS, Leslie Delima has had an extraordinary season in gymnastics, breaking two records at the Winterfest Invitational in Stafford in January 2006; and

WHEREAS, a dedicated and accomplished athlete, Leslie Delima finished in third place all-around in the district meet, third all-around in the regional meet, and second all-around in the state championship meet; and

WHEREAS, Leslie Delima won state honors with a first place award in the balance beam competition; and

WHEREAS, exhibiting amazing performances all season, Leslie Delima won four third place awards, eight second place awards, and a superb 37 first place awards in gymnastic competitions across the state; and

WHEREAS, Wendy Cauthen and Ron McCall are the hard-working coaches who support and inspire Leslie Delima and the entire Salem High School gymnastics team; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate Leslie Delima for her exemplary performance in Virginia High School League gymnastics in 2005-2006; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Leslie Delima as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation of her many achievements and her commitment to the sport of gymnastics.
