2006 SESSION
WHEREAS, Kenneth Michael Keesee, a much loved English teacher at Turner Ashby High School, died on January 28, 2006; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Keesee was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, but was a Virginian by choice, moving here with his wife and starting his family in Harrisonburg after completing law school; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Keesee had an adventurous spirit and worked as a deck hand on a Mississippi tug boat before graduating summa cum laude from Southeast Missouri State University, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and earned degrees in English and Religion/Philosophy; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Keesee received his juris doctor degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at The College of William and Mary; and
WHEREAS, a natural teacher, Kenneth Keesee used skills he had honed in law school to start a debate class and a debate team at Turner Ashby High School, and he also coached the Academic Team; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Keesee was a member of the Knights of Columbus at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Harrisonburg; and
WHEREAS, known for his intelligence, compassion, and calm disposition, Kenneth Keesee loved the outdoors and the Shenandoah Mountains, but his family was his first priority; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Kenneth Michael Keesee, an outstanding educator; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Kenneth Michael Keesee as an expression of the respect in which his memory is held by the members of the General Assembly.
