HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 445
Celebrating the life of Edna Henry Hurt Ball.

WHEREAS, Edna Henry Hurt Ball, a longtime Henrico County and Richmond area businesswoman and community volunteer, died on February 13, 2006; and

WHEREAS, a native of Lunenburg County, Edna Ball was a graduate of Victoria High School; and

WHEREAS, Edna Ball was the wife of former House of Delegates member Robert B. Ball, Sr., and was a dedicated partner with her husband in various family businesses throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, Edna Ball gave generously of her time and energy to serve her community and particularly to provide for those in need; she was the 1968 Henrico Christmas Mother and a member of the Women's Auxiliary of Patrick Henry Hospital, where she worked to secure development of the Elizabeth Adam Crump Manor health care facility in Henrico County; and

WHEREAS, a devoted church member, Edna Ball served in many capacities, first at Biltmore Baptist Church and then at Chamberlayne Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Edna Ball will be remembered by her family and by an extended circle of acquaintances and associates as a loyal wife, caring mother and grandmother, and steady friend; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Edna Henry Hurt Ball, an exemplary daughter of Virginia; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Edna Henry Hurt Ball to express the General Assembly's fond remembrance and admiration of her life of loyalty and service.
