WHEREAS, United States Navy Lieutenant Bruce R. Wainer, Jr., of Norfolk retires on March 12, 2006, after over 20 years of faithful and honorable service to his country; and

WHEREAS, Lieutenant Wainer began his service with the United States Navy in 1985 and was selected for a commission in the Enlisted Nuclear Power Officer Candidate Program; and

WHEREAS, Lieutenant Wainer served aboard two submarines and at the headquarters of the Atlantic Fleet Submarine Force; and

WHEREAS, after completing active duty, Lieutenant Wainer continued to support the Atlantic Fleet Submarine Force in the United States Navy Reserve; and

WHEREAS, Lieutenant Wainer has served as an outstanding training officer for his unit and was invaluable in readying the troops of the Atlantic Fleet for deployment in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom; and

WHEREAS, an experienced leader and role model, Lieutenant Bruce R. Wainer, Jr., has served his country with great honor and devotion to duty; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate a fine officer and patriotic Virginian, Lieutenant Bruce R. Wainer, Jr., on the completion of a stellar career in the United States Navy; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Lieutenant Bruce R. Wainer, Jr., as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for his longtime service to his country and his commitment to the citizens of the Commonwealth and the nation.
