WHEREAS, Hospital Corpsman First Class (SEAL) Jeffrey S. Taylor, United States Navy, was killed in action near Asadabad, Afghanistan, in Kunar Province; and

WHEREAS, Jeffrey S. Taylor, a Navy SEAL stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, lived in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with his wife, Erin, and is also survived by his parents John and Carrie Taylor; and

WHEREAS, Jeffrey S. Taylor, a native of Coal City, West Virginia, became a SEAL in 2000 after graduating from Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training with class 229 at Naval Special Warfare Center, Coronado, California; and

WHEREAS, Jeffrey S. Taylor distinguished himself as a Navy SEAL earning multiple decorations during his Navy career, including the Bronze Star (with “V” for Valor), Purple Heart, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with Combat “V”) (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation (2 awards), Navy “E” Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (4 awards), Navy Fleet Marine Force Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2 awards), Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2 awards), Navy Expert Rifleman Medal and Navy Expert Pistol Shot Medal; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a courageous and patriotic American, Hospital Corpsman First Class (SEAL) Jeffrey S. Taylor; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Hospital Corpsman First Class (SEAL) Jeffrey S. Taylor, United States Navy, as an expression of the high regard in which his memory is held by the members of the General Assembly and the citizens of Virginia and the nation.
