WHEREAS, Antoon Maria Arkesteyn, Jr., of Mechanicsville, respected citizen and ardent community supporter, died on December 5, 2005; and
WHEREAS, Antoon "Toney" Arkesteyn was born on July 26, 1936, the son of Antoon Maria Arkesteyn, Sr., who became a United States citizen in 1973, and Virginia Lee Warren; and
WHEREAS, after graduating from Saint Patrick's School in 1954, Toney Arkesteyn served his country in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958; and
WHEREAS, Toney Arkesteyn married Patricia Goodman, they had two sons, and the couple shared 32 wonderful years together; and
WHEREAS, a dedicated and exemplary employee, Toney Arkesteyn worked for the Federal Reserve Bank for nearly 40 years; and
WHEREAS, Toney Arkesteyn was a devoted member and secretary of Saint John’s Catholic Church and served as a member and twice as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Father Scanlon Council #6936 and a member of the Richmond Assembly, Fourth Degree Council; and
WHEREAS, committed to improving the quality of life of his neighbors, Toney Arkesteyn worked diligently at his church, supported numerous community activities, and volunteered at the United Way after his retirement; and
WHEREAS, Toney Arkesteyn will be missed by his family, his numerous friends and admirers, and the parishioners of Saint John’s Catholic Church; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Antoon Maria Arkesteyn, Jr.; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Antoon Maria Arkesteyn, Jr., as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
